Orchard Place Host Coronation Celebrations in Westminster
Friday 9th May 2023 – Westminster, London – The local community of SW1 gathered for an afternoon of fun and celebration at the Orchard Place ‘Coronation Celebration’ street party on May 4th to celebrate the Coronation of the new monarch, King Charles III. The event, which was hosted by Orchard Place at The Broadway, a Northacre development, brought together residents, commercial tenants, and the local community for an afternoon of food, workshops, entertainment, and music.
The festivities kicked off with a lively performance by local acoustic band, Girl to Stroll, who played a roster of feel-good tunes alongside Royal Guard-inspired stilt-walkers. Attendees enjoyed a wide range of food and drinks, with vendors brought together by KERB. Guests enjoyed food from BEYroots, serving original authentic Lebanese street food, Enak, offering fresh and fiery Indonesian cuisine, Utter Waffle, creating mouth-watering waffle treats, and Los Gordos, serving up unique Columbian tacos and flavours. Renowned British sparkling wine producer, Gusbourne, held a fully stocked wine bar along with hosting two masterclasses throughout the day.
Guests had the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and activities throughout the day, including local school children and families joining an origami crown & scroll-making workshop, Chalk Jewellery also hosted a creative jewellery-making workshop with jewels inspired by The Broadway’s iconic diamond facade, designed by Squire + Partners.
As part of the celebrations, Orchard Place hosted a Community Raffle to raise money for chosen charity Caxton Youth Organisation. All items were generously donated by local businesses and community members, with prizes such as a Coronation Champagne Afternoon Tea for Two at The Conrad London St. James, a State Rooms and Gardens Tour at Buckingham Palace, and a Truefitt & Hill Gentleman’s Grooming Kit.
The event was a great success, with many residents and visitors from across Westminster coming together to enjoy the festivities. The community spirit on display was a testament to the growing community that exists in Orchard Place.
